“Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk of the word, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation, now that you have tasted that the Lord is good.” 1 Peter 2:2-3, NIV
What do you crave? For me, a big, juicy, all-beef burger is at the top of my list! And… if I can add a glob of pimento cheese – ah, heaven!
A few things about cravings:
- A craving is your body’s way of letting you know that you are deficient in something.
- Cravings can be for more than just food. You could crave information, news, quiet, exercise, etc… What would be on your list?
- Cravings originate from an internal place of want and desire.
Of all the things you crave, would God’s Word be on the list?
Peter is telling us in the above verses that to live victoriously in a hostile world, we need to crave God’s Word. We are to crave God’s Word in order to grow. We are to crave God’s Word in order to grow in our salvation.
But, how do we cultivate a craving heart for God’s Word? Well, here’s one way.
