Day 6: Learning To Move Forward When You Hit A Bump In the Road

Can we stop here and have some honest talk- friend to friend?  Let’s ask ourselves something:

WHY do I want to be radiant?

It is fairly easy to get side-tracked into a selfish pursuit. And, it can quickly become an obstacle, a bump in the road, to truly reaching our maximum potential of brightness. The inner voice may sound something like this:

I want to be radiant…

because I want others to admire me.

because I want to be known for something.

because I need the attention.

because I want others to want to be like me.

because it will prove I’m worthy.

In order to move forward when we hit a bump in the road, we need to do a bit on heart inventory. It’s important to check our motivations and realign our purpose.

WHY do I want to be beautiful and shine?

What is at the ROOT of my pursuit to sparkle?

Do I honestly want to reflect the glory of Jesus, for His acclaim and not my own?

We need to remember: it’s not about me. It’s not for me. It’s not because of me. It’s all because of His greatness, His majesty, His glory.

Until we come to grips with this and let go of our selfish motivation, we will never reach our full potential of shininess. We will fall short of the joy, the confidence, the beauty that is available to us. We don’t have the capacity to shine on our own.

“I am the light of the world. Whoever follows Me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” John 8:12, NIV

Jesus says He is the light of the world.

The Light.

The True Light.

The only One worth reflecting.

The Source of our glowing beauty.

And as we follow Him, we will have the light of life!

Let’s do a heart check today and I’ll see you tomorrow!
