I like shortcuts. Whether it’s backroads or an icon on the desktop, shortcuts are direct ways that take you to your intended destination.

So too, God gives us a direct route, a shortcut, into His light. And that shortcut is through His word.

The commands of the Lord are radiant, giving light to the eyes. Psalm 19:8, NIV

Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path. Psalm 119:105, NIV

His Word, the Bible, not only gives an inner light to our eyes, but provides a projected light to our steps ahead.

Based on these verses, knowing the Bible, reading the Bible, and spending time learning from the Bible is paramount. It is God’s love letter to us, our instruction book for life, and truly alive and active as He changes us through it.

So, my friend…are you consistently reading the Bible? Remember and know that it is the direct route to letting your light shine.

I know it can be a struggle. It’s difficult to maintain the “want-to” motivation and stay committed. It’s hard to even find the time with family and early morning school start times and amidst exhaustion that comes at night. I know. It’s hard.

But if it is a direct route to having God’s light shine in you and through you, isn’t it worth it?
