Day 20: When Fear Creeps Up On You

Fear is a problem for me.

I fear you won’t like me. I fear my kids will be abducted. I fear I won’t meet your expectations. I fear that my husband will die. I fear I’m totally messing up my kids. I fear my teeth will fall out.

Fear is a thing. God knows fear can haunt us, cripple us, and rob us of victory. Look what He says in regards to fear:

The Lord is my light and my salvation—
    whom shall I fear?
The Lord is the stronghold of my life—
of whom shall I be afraid? Psalm 27:1, NIV

BAM! – Another BENEFIT God gives as we are…

walking in the light

possessing His light as OUR light

obeying Him.

Here it is:

We will fear less and less because with Jesus as our light we have nothing to fear.

– Because…all those things that happen in the dark- that creep along…the slither about…even in the darkness of your own heart- are brought into the LIGHT when you invite Jesus in. You see them for what they are and are not duped by them anymore.

– Because…His light is a powerful shield like armor around you. When you walk in His light by obeying Him, you are protected by His truth.

– Because…you won’t be walking alone.  You look to your right and your left and see friends walking in the light along with you.

Are you crippled with fear? Do you play out horrible, worst case scenarios in your brain? Take this verse to heart and take Jesus as your light!
